Toronto’s Leslieville unveils new Guidant mural April 13, 2018

Toronto’s StreetARToronto program has partnered with the Toronto Parking Authority to support a new mural entitled Guidant. Councillor Paula Fletcher (Ward 30 Toronto-Danforth) will join partner representatives and Toronto artist Mediah to unveil the new mural.

The official unveiling will take place on Friday, November 3 at noon at 1014 Queen St. E., located at the corner of Queen Street East and Boston Avenue.

“Leslieville has just become a little more exciting with this new art installation,” said Councillor Fletcher. “Projects like these infuse art, culture and creativity into a community and also can share an important message.”

Evond Blake is a multidisciplinary visual artist who has worked under the pseudonym Mediah for 22 years. Blurring the lines between post-graffiti and dynamic abstraction, his work consists of weaving street art forms with traditional painterly techniques and mixed media printmaking. The artist hopes that this colourful and vibrant mural will inspire community members to look at art and life differently and explore new life pathways. The dynamic line work and energetic components are reminiscent of gears, spokes, bike paths and the energy used in pursuit of reaching our destination.

The Toronto Parking Authority is pleased to support projects such as this that make an important contribution to the community. This beautiful, bike-themed artwork is located next to a Bike Share Toronto bike station.
