What is the TPA?

The Toronto Parking Authority is a local Board of the City of Toronto which owns and operates the system of Municipal off-street parking lots (‘Green P’) and the on-street metered parking. It is mandated to construct, operate, manage, and maintain the City’s public bike share program, municipal off-street parking facilities and on-street meter operations on behalf of the City and in support of local business areas.

Where does the TPA Operate?

The TPA operates in the City of Toronto and the City of Vaughan.

How many metered parking spaces does the TPA operate?

The Toronto Parking Authority operates approximately 20,000 on-street spaces by way of pay-and-display machines and mobile pay.

How much does it cost to park on-street?

On-street spaces rates are posted on parking pay-and-display machines, on meters and on the Green P mobile app.

What are your Holiday Parking Rates?

Unless otherwise stated, regular rates apply in our facilities on Holidays. Similarly, regular rates apply on the street during Holidays.

Who is on the TPA board?

The TPA board is appointed by City Council. It consists of 5 citizens and 2 Councillors.

Who determines the parking rates?

The TPA recommends appropriate rates for on-street and off-street parking. Off-street parking rates are subject to the approval of the Board of Directors. On-street parking rates are subject to the approval of the committee of Council or Council as a whole.

Where can I park once I have purchased an on-street parking receipt ?

Parking purchased from a pay-and-display machine or from the Green P mobile app is valid within the spaces controlled by that machine, or location ID, as indicated by the signs located on the streets.

What does “Ticket Not Transferrable” on my parking receipt mean ?

Parking purchased at a specific machine, or location ID, is valid only for the spaces controlled by that machine or location ID (except as noted below) and for the vehicle the allotted parking time was purchased for.

What if the pay and display machine nearest to my parking space is out of order ?

In this case, purchase a ticket from the closest working machine on the same street and display ticket. That ticket is valid under these circumstances. You may also use our mobile app to purchase time at the location.

How many off-street lot spaces does the TPA have?

The Toronto Parking Authority operates over 200 municipal parking lots containing over 22,000 spaces. This includes 20 attended lots, 14 fully automated garages, and 194 unattended lots.

How long can I park in a Green P Lot?

As a customer, you can park and pay for as many days as you like. It should be noted, though that there are no in-and-out privileges. You can purchase the time you require on your credit card and display the receipt on your dash, or make a payment using the Green P mobile app. For attended facilities, simply pay the cashier upon your departure.

What is a Parking Violation Notice?

TPA only issues Parking Violation Notices for vehicles incorrectly parked at TPA off-street lots, such as gated parking garages and surface parking lots. For questions related to tickets issued at off-street locations, contact Green P’s customer service team at 416-393-7275

What is a Parking Invoice? What is a Parking Violation Notice?

Effective July 29, 2020, the TPA is no longer issuing Parking Invoices in TPA off-street lots. TPA is now only issuing Parking Violation Notices for vehicles incorrectly parked at TPA off-street lots. The Toronto Enforcement Unit issues Parking Violation Notices for incorrectly parked vehicles at TPA off-street lots and incorrectly utilizing on-street parking.
