Toronto Parking Authority (Green P) is introducing a modernized on-street technology upgrade across the city with new Pay-by-Plate parking meters.
The new parking meters are an upgrade to the current Pay-and-Display machines and feature a user-friendly touchscreen, offering an interactive experience. Recognizing the importance of payment flexibility, more payment options are now available.
In addition to paying with the Green P App, customers can now pay by mobile tap-and-go via credit, debit, Google Pay and Apple Pay, as well as a convenient scan-to-pay functionality.
The Pay-by-Plate option means no more walking back to the vehicle to display a ticket. The licence plate number is the ticket.
The new parking meters provide a user-friendly interface with a wide array of payment options and enhanced accessibility features. These new parking meters will create a seamless customer parking experience that deliver:
A new era of parking convenience and efficiency for all customers.
Use any of the payment options below. Coins are still accepted, or use the Green P App.
Pay-by-Plate parking meters require entering the vehicle licence plate number to validate parking sessions.
If paying by card, enter the length of time required for parking. If by coins, continue to add coins until desired time appears on screen.
Tap card of choice (or mobile wallet / phone) on the contactless reader.
Save paper if no receipt is required and email or print if needed for financial records.
Pay-and-Display parking meters require drivers to visibly display a parking receipt on their dashboard as proof of payment. Whereas Pay-by-Plate parking meters provide the convenience of simply entering licence plate number into the meter and making payment. No need to display a ticket on dash anymore. Valid parking sessions are confirmed via a cloud-based enforcement system.
Credit card transactions are securely processed with level-1 (highest level) Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance. Cash collection and replenishment follow certified cash handling procedures.
